The bridge is not the only way
I saw these words from a friend's website and it gives things a new perspective.maybe its time to look at things in different ways.
From the words of my Sensei during one of my trainings: "You will find yourself meeting rivers or streams. And there will always be a bridge for you to cross it.But if you find yourself standing at a river with no bridge to cross over with, you would need to build one.. This is where you put your mind to find the solutions to cross the river. ..."
Knowledge and solutions to problems comes from building your foundations and having a peaceful mind to put things into perspective. I felt and believe the words above. But we are not just talking about building your own foundation to give yourself a leverage over others. In his words, we are also looking at overcoming difficulties that one may face.
"Building a bridge" is not just the only solution to cross the river. If you put your mind to it, you can also make a boat, swim across, walk to the end of the river and make a turn (this would be the longest route). The possibilities are endless. But at the end of it, it is how fast or slow one will take to cross the river. Some may make it faster than others while some will find it hard to move on.
Eventually, you will still reach the other side, just like everyone else.Sure... it is easy to say that there are many solutions to one problem. And it is easy to say to just build a bridge. But would you rather stay at the river and not cross it? Would you not try to find the solutions? As human beings, we always wants the best and always thinks that the grass is greener on the other side. And thus the reason for us to always wanting to cross the river as we are expecting something better or expecting a light at the end of a tunnel. In the case of the river, you would need to cross it before you can get to the greener pastures.
