The wonderful journey of discovering a new language and the language, being of that, of the Al-Quran began when we started the semester earlier this year on the 5th of August 2005.Yesterday, 14th of October 2005 marks the end of the course completion.
It had been a journey indeed as we stumbled over pronouncing foreign words, discovered the translated meanings of words, learned how to read, write and (urm, speak a little) arabic words.
Of course, the best and the most enjoyful part of the course, drooling over the delicious looking dates in the Feast of Dates cd, following the courageous shepherd's encounter with the lion, his capture in the in war and the eventual reunion with the two in the cartoon Hikayat Almeeya, following Sinbad on one of his sea journeys and my favourite, the two bears in the City of Dreams who went on a journey beyond the City of Dreams into the Glass Mountains, fought along the way, destroyed it and never get to come home.(Basically, they were great cartoons to watch and we learned our vocabularies from here.)
There were many firsts for me. Learning to read, write and speak arabic words was the first and foremost. Learning to read the different types of writing was another.(something like different forms of cursive writing) Being called by my first name ever in my life was another. i wrote before that i had never been called by my first name.
For me personally, arabic language was hard (but then again,so is any new language rite?) but i hope to perservere on and continue with this great learning.
Amidst all these, we met 3 wonderful teachers. They had provided us with the resources, the interest and they had patiently taught us the language and a big kudos to them. They did a fantastic job at teaching.Thank you so much, Waleed,Mohammed and Ahmed!
I didnt get much photos though since my batteries died on me but there are some pics on my fotopages.so,check us out aite!
oh,we were each presented with a cert.we had a closing ceremony with the works.the president of MSA came in and presented to us our certs.hahaha...formal eh.
